Funeral services for Richard Duane Smith, 50, Iowa City, were held Nov. 12 with the Rev. Wilbur Wilcox officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery, Iowa City. Mr. Smith died at his home, 708 Caroline Ave., Iowa City, Nov. 7.

The son of Robert and Anne (Dewey) Smith, he was born in Iowa City March 21, 1932. He was married to Marilyn Achey at Tipton Jan. 7.

Mr. Smith had been a route salesman and driver for Home Town Dairies, Iowa City, for 29 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist church at Iowa City and Teamsters Local 238.

He is survived by his wife; 4 daughters, Mrs. Terry (Connie) Hora and Mrs. LaVern (Virginia) Stahmer, both of Iowa City, Mrs. Andrew (Susan) Cooper, North Liberty and Barbara Smith, Tipton; 2 sons, David, Iowa City and John, Eldridge; his mother, Mrs. William Snyder, Oxford; 7 grandchildren; a brother, Daniel, Iowa City and 3 sisters, Mrs. James (Linda) Dolezal, Oxford, Mrs. William (Jackie) Birtcher, Williamsburg and Nancy Smith, Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
