Paul Lee Oxley was born August 2, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa. He passed away April 5, 2022, at the age of 79 years. He is laid to rest at Sawnee View Gardens and Mausoleum in Cumming, Georgia.

Paul graduated from Iowa City High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and specialized as a radio operator. Briefly activated during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he returned to live in Iowa City in the early 1960's. He married Nancy J Raun in 1966. They moved to Milwaukee where he graduated with honors from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1968. He later graduated from a master's level program offered through AT&T Bell Labs and Stevens Institute of Technology.

He worked for 38 years with AT&T, rising through the ranks to retire as District Manager. His contributions included improving the microwave radio telephony system and telephone switching systems. He was involved in the engineering, business, and legal aspects of AT&T's divestiture in the 1980's. He was awarded for his contributions to radio engineering at AT&T and for his role in the recovery of the telephone systems following the tragedy of 9/11. In retirement, he served as VP of the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers and was one of the founders of the Radio Astronomy Software Defined Radio project.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen M (Peden) Oxley and Vernon D Oxley; and older brothers, Harold and George.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy; two children, Douglas Oxley his wife, Susan Kretschmar Oxley, and Susan Sheen and husband, Corey; three grandchildren, Ellinor Sheen, Cameron Sheen, and Griffen Sheen; and sister, Ruth Pearson. (Source: Find-a-Grave Memorial ID 238616997.)
