Maureen Joyce Johnson was born March 25, 1941, in North English, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Velva (Summitt) Johnson. She attended and graduated Valedictorian from school in Parnell, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Virgil Fountain on October 10, 1959, at the Grace Missionary Church in Iowa City. Maureen worked for a number of years at NCS, but she would be the first to say, she was meant for motherhood. Her children and numerous nieces and nephews would testify to that, as would many of their childhood friends who would call her ‘Mom’. Then came the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even the great-great-grandson, she loved and spoiled them like no other while smiling ear to ear. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, her flowers and so much more alongside her soul mate Virgil. The two of them were one since high school, and from that point forward always known as ‘Virg and Reen’. Virg was continuously by Reen’s side until she took her last breath, a true love story.

Her family includes her husband, Virgil; their children, Terrie Doehrmann (Steve), Jon Fountain (Lisa), Katheryn Ogden (Mark), Charles Fountain (Pam) and Sheri Bailey (David); son-in-law, Doug Aubrecht; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Dixie Emerson, Rosie Vrchoticky, and Unita Schliemann; brother-in-law, Duane Brenneman and sister-in-law, Gwen Claypool. She is also survived by many much loved nieces and nephews.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tina Aubrecht; granddaughter, Cynthia Doehrmann; grandson, Christopher Doehrmann; sisters, Judy Brenneman and Madeline Norvel.
