Gertrude E. “Peggy” Bowers, 86 of 905 10th. Avenue, Coralville died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville following a long illness.

Graveside services will be held today, Friday July 16, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery, rural Johnson County with Sister Agnes Giblin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com.

Peggy was born February 15, 1918 in Marion, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Beulah (Kintz) Kost. She married Glenn Bowers on May 30, 1958 in Marengo. The couple has resided in Coralville for many years.

Her family includes her husband, Glenn; daughters, Shirley and her husband, Arnie Burgess of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Jeanne Hamilton of West Branch; sons and their wives, Ted and Rosa Tompkins of Solon, John and Penny Tompkins of Solon, Richie and Connie Tompkins of Solon, and Ed and Lori Bowers of West Branch; step-daughter, Gayle and her husband, Maret Panzenbeck of Newtown, CT; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine Allen of West Branch.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Alvin Niswander Jr. and Jimmy Dean Niswander, and several brothers and sisters.

Peggy’s family want to thank and recognize the caring support and care provided to their Peggy from Iowa City Hospice and the staff of Lantern Park Care Center.
