Diane E. Siglin, 63 of Iowa City, Iowa died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics following a courageous battle with cancer.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00am Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Iowa City. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, New York at a later date. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service are handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed in her name on behalf of the Ingersoll Family to the Marfan’s Foundation, 382 Main Street, Port Washington, NY 11050 or to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, and Iowa 52242.

Mrs. Siglin was born August 17, 1940 in Rochester, New York the daughter of John Richard and Agnes (Meyers) Barron. She attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing from 1958 to 1960 and subsequently obtained a New York State Practical Nurses License. She worked as a staff nurse in several hospitals and nursing homes in New York State. She married Charles W. Case in 1960, and later divorced in 1988. Mrs. Siglin married Verlyn V. Siglin in 1991.

Mrs. Siglin received a BS degree in Social Work from Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and worked as a Review Officer for the Lake Winnebago Area Health Systems Agency in Oshkosh. She moved with her family to Iowa City in 1980. She received her MA degree in 1983 from the University of Iowa and worked at the University of Iowa in the College of Medicine and the College of Nursing over a 12 year period until she retired in 1999. Mrs. Siglin also worked for National Computer Systems of Iowa City for 5 years.

Mrs. Siglin was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, a member of the Iowa City Business and Professional Women and the Johnson County Task Force on Aging. She was also a member of the University Club and volunteered for Hancher Guild.

She is survived by her husband Verlyn Siglin of Iowa City, Iowa; two daughters, Cathleen Case-Rosenzweig and her husband Michael of Deerfield, IL, Heather A. Case of Austin, Texas; two sons, Scott C. Case and his wife Laurie and Sean P. Case all of Iowa City, Iowa; two step sons, Douglas Siglin and his wife Kristin of Washington, DC, and Stephen Siglin and his wife Belinda of Iowa City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Ethan, Caitlin and Erin Rosenzweig and three step grandchildren, Allison, Jack and Kara Siglin; three sisters, Marilynn Barron McDonald of Rochester, New York, Barbara Moore of Arlington, Texas, and Gail Ingersoll of Wake Forest, North Carolina and one brother, Richard M. Barron of Whitesboro, Texas; several nieces and nephews; an aunt and uncle, Mildred and Edward Kueppers of Boca Raton, Florida .

Her parents preceded her in death.
