Paul D. Burken, 44, of Abbey Lane ended his life Monday, April 5, 2004.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 1;00 PM, at Parkview Evangelical Church with the Rev. Steve Rachke officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. The family will greet friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a memorial fund in Paul’s memory and may be sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 167, Iowa City, 52244-0167.

Paul was born September 6, 1959 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Leroy “Butch” and Darla Kieffer Burken. Paul was a 1977 graduate of Northeast High School in Goose Lake, Iowa and received his BS degree in accounting in 1981 from St. Ambrose University. Paul married Eta Clark on July 25, 1992 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Paul was the comptroller for Advantage Automotive Group in Center Point, Iowa and was a partner in Bon Vivant Catering with his wife, Eta.

Paul was an avid supporter of Hawkeye football and basketball. His love for sports, especially golf, balanced his love for art and music. Paul valued all his friends and the simple things in life. His smile, sense of humor and cheerful disposition touched all those he knew. Paul cherished his nieces and nephews.

Paul is survived by his wife, Eta; his step son, Matthew Clark of Minneapolis; his step-daughter Heidi Clark of Iowa City; his parents, Leroy and Darla Burken of Goose Lake, Iowa; his siblings, Brad, Tim (Barb) Burken, all of Charlotte, Iowa, Annette (Todd) Munck of Fulton, Illinois and Joel (Hope) Burken of Rolla, Missouri; his maternal grandmother, Ardis Kieffer of Delmar, Iowa; twelve nieces and nephews; two great nieces and his dog Murphy.

He was preceded in death by grandparents.
