Art Henze Rites Friday At Newton
Funeral services and burial for a former State Center resident, Art Henze, 71, of Newton, were held Friday in Newton. Mr. Henze died Tuesday evening, Mar. 14 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines after a lingering illness.
Mr. Henze was born Mar. 13, 1901 at State Center, the son of Albert and Mary Eckhart Henze. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center.
A commercial truck gardener and hay dealer in this area for many years, Mr. Henze moved to Newton about seven years ago. He was a member of the Marshalltown Eagles Club and a 37 year member of the Marshalltown Elks Club.
He was married to Ruby Meldrem Dec. 31, 1964, at Newton and she survives, along with four step-children.
Other survivors include his mother Mrs. Mary Henze, State Center; a brother, Albert Henze, State Center; seven sisters, Mrs. Alma Rittierodt, Mrs. L. C. (Clara) Buck, Mrs. Alvin (Ida) Gerke, and Mrs. Lloyd (Irene) Eggers, all of State Center, Mrs. Glen (Mildred) Norell of Denver, Colo., Mrs. T. J. (Violet) Wengert of Rockford, Ill. and Mrs. Hilda Bernard of New Providence; also 20 step-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
