Life of Wessel Peter Haag
Son of Theobald David Haag and Christine Haag, born in Iowa County, Lincoln Twp. On May 17th, 1895. Baptized Oct 18th, 1895 in the Lutheran Church in Iowa County. Started to school what was called the Haag school in Iowa County. Later his parents moved to Deep River, Iowa and went to the Deep River school there. Then started to work for other people.
He was married at the age of 19 yrs. to Verna Ross on Dec. 31st at 1914. He then worked at a tile factory at Deep River and farmed around Deep River, Gibson and Barnes City, Iowa. Later on he moved to Newton in 1927 and worked on the Maytag farms and for the Highway Commission. He retired from the Maytag factory as janitor in 1962.
To this union was born four children: Letha Kathren, March 6th, 1917, died at birth; Marie May born Feb. 7th, 1918; Marvin Dwaine born June 8th, 1920; Lillian Irine born Nov. 19th, 1925, died at birth.
Marie had one daughter and one son, Trudy & Richard. Marvin had two sons and one daughter, Ronald Lee, Sandra Sue and Dennis Arnold.
