Colfax – Verlee Laura Ellerbe, 83, of Colfax, died of congestive heart failure at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lakeland Memorial Park in Lakeland, Fla.
Friends may call after noon today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax where family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Jasper County Hospice.
The daughter of Jackson and Laura L. Murphy Holt, she was born May 15, 1971, in Cordele, Ga. She lived in Colfax from 1951 to 1973, in Florida from 1973 to 1990, and then moved back to Colfax. She married William H. Ellerbe on Jan. 10, 1938, in Dade City, Fla. and was also a member of High Adventure Christian Center in Newton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jannie of Lakeland, Fla.; a son-in-law, Ronald Hansen of Colfax; one daughter, Betty Avey of Colfax; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (May 30, 1990), one daughter (Helen), and brothers and sisters.
