Gladys Opal Johnson, 85, died of a cerebral anoxia Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell. Burial: Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Grinnell. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Johnson, and a sister, Ethel Beason, both of Grinnell.

Gladys O. Johnson, 85, of Grinnell died Monday, Feb. 21, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of the Ashton Chapel near Baxter, officiating. Organist was Nancy Sears, and vocalist was Mary Feuerbach.
Pallbearers were Harold Galloway; John Godlove; Keith, Scott and Ted Johnson, and Paul See. Honorary bearers were Ed Gilkerson, Natasha Johnson and Marilyn Thompson.
Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery.
The daughter of Mack and Caroline Bowen See, she was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Buckeye. She moved to Grinnell and received her education here.
She was married to Francis Scott Johnson in 1934 in Montezuma, and the couple farmed in the Grinnell area and, later, in the Moulton area. She returned to Grinnell in 1976 and was employed at DeLong Sportswear until her retirement in 1988.
Survivors include one son, Thomas of Grinnell; one sister, Ethel Beason of Grinnell; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Jennie Tennatt See; her husband; and one brother, Jessie See.
A Gladys Johnson Memorial Fund has been established.
