PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Gladys Hargrove Colyn, 75, a longtime resident of Prairie City, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City after noon today and family visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Prairie City Ambulance Fund will be accepted.

Mrs. Colyn died Sunday at the Pella Community Hospital.

Survivors are her husband, Paul; a daughter, Pat (Mrs. Larry) Plate of Evanston, Ill.; and two sisters, Edith Street of Mineola, Texas, and Pauline Quinn of Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

A graduate of the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, she was a nurse at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines prior to 1941.(Typed as written, date cannot be correct as she was born in 1945).

The daughter of Frank and Laura Hargrove, she as born Nov. 6, 1945 in Provo, Ark., and was a graduate of Antlers, Okla., High School.

She was married to Paul J. Colyn Sept. 28, 1940 in Memphis, Mo. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 1 Oct 1991.
