Funeral services for Lola K. Oswalt, 94, of Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Elder Delores Versteegh of the Reorganized Latter-Day Saints Church in Newton, officiating.

Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.

Visitation will be held after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.

Memorials to the Reorganized Latter-Day Saints Church Building Fund will be accepted.

Mrs. Oswalt died Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.

The daughter of Luke and Mary Ver Steegh Koopman, she was born July 18, 1903, in Knoxville. She was a graduate of Knoxville High School.

She married Harve Oswalt July 22, 1921 in Knoxville.

A longtime resident of Newton she was employed by the Maytag Assembly Plant No. 1, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Reorganized Latter-Day Saints Church.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Owen and Kay, Glen and Joy and Phillip and Joann, all of Newton, a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis (Mrs. Tony) Dito of Newton; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers; and three sisters. ~ The Newton Daily News, August 28, 1997.
