S. W. Shaw Dies at 93
Rites For County Pioneer To Be Held Sunday Afternoon At Monroe
MONROE, IA. – Samuel Wallace Shaw, 93, who had lived on the same farm just east of Monroe for the past 75 years, died Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. His advanced age and complications caused his death. He was ill ten days.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Monroe United Presbyterian church with interment following in the Monroe cemetery.
Mr. Shaw was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1848, and came to Jasper county, Iowa, with his parents in 1868. They settled on the farm east of Monroe.
He was wed on Oct. 22, 1895, to Cora Ink of Mount Vernon, Ia., who died in 1931.
Of five children born to this union, two sons survive – W. B. Shaw of Monroe and Raymond Shaw of Aberdeen, S.D.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
