Funeral services for Mary will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton. Deacon Rev. Merle Smith and Rev. Karen Crawford, Supply Priest, at St. Stephen’s, are conducting the services. Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. A time of fellowship and lunch with the family, will follow the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to Mary’s family. Burial will be in Park Rapids, MN, at a later date.

Mary Audrey Freeman, 92, formerly of Park Rapids, MN, the daughter of Herbert M. and Florence M. (Fuller) Wetlaufer, was born February 19, 1923, in Oelwein, IA. She was a graduate of the Oelwein Senior High, and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA. Mary was employed by Job Service of Iowa as a job qualification specialist.

In 1943, Mary was united in marriage with Edward Michael Freeman. To this union was given six children: Mike, Tim, Patricia, Mary, Paige and Herbert. She devoted her life to her family, and was a member of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton, the Park Rapids Garden Club and Trinity Episcopal Church in Park Rapids. Upon retirement, she and Herb had resided in Park Rapids. Mary later moved to the Newton area, in 2010. She enjoyed music, singing in the choir, and raising Vizsla dogs with her husband, who was a veterinarian.

Mary passed away Friday morning, March 27, 2015, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mike in 2009; a great grandson Nick; her brothers: Fred, Jerry and Donald; and a sister Maude Palmer.

Those left to honor Mary’s memory include her six children: Mike and Carol Freeman, Tim and Mary Freeman, Patricia and Bob Waidler, Mary Beth Freeman, Paige and Bob Wharram and Herbert and Phyllis Freeman; her ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother Roger Wetlaufer; and many friends. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 27 Mar 2015.
