Archie Jones, age 78 of Monroe passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monroe American Legion, Monroe Fire Department or the Monroe Public Library. The son of Charles L. and Ania Marie (Emerson) Jones, Archie was born on December 5, 1936, in Jasper County, Iowa. On December 5, 1973, he was united in marriage to Maxine Mae Green in Newton. Archie worked at the Vernon Company in shipping and receiving. He retired in 1997. Archie served in the United States Army and is a Vietnam era veteran. He was a member of the Monroe American Legion, U.A.W. Local 997, and Vietnam Era Veterans. Archie enjoyed hunting, watching birds, and working on the farm. He also enjoyed sports, especially the Hawkeyes and wrestling.

Those left to honor his memory include his three children, Eddie (Kim) Jones of Monroe, Patricia (Brad) Hemsley of Sigourney, and Arthur Jones of Clear Lake; a step daughter, Debbie (George) Guiles of Indianola; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Angie Roberts of Newton, and a brother, David Jones of Carlisle.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife in 1987; a sister, Naomi Poston and a brother, Norman Jones. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 27 mar 2015.
