Clarence Lavelleur Suicides

On Wednesday afternoon of last week, Clarence Lavalleur was found dead in a room at the Morgan House in Des Moines, all the evidence seeming to point either to suicide or an accidental overdose of opium. Physicians and the city police regarded the case as a very strange one.

A man by the name of Charles Smith who registered with Clarence at the hotel the night before, has not been located, and detectives are still looking for him. Clarence had been very despondent for some time on account of some trouble for which he had been arrested, and this accounts for the suicide theory.

He was married and his wife lives in Des Moines.

He was the son of the late Frank Lavelleur who met with tragic and mysterious death in this city a few years ago. His mother resides in Des Moines, but for many years lived in this city where she is known as an excellent woman. Her life has been full of sorrow, and in this additional affliction she has universal sympathy. – Newton Record.
