Scott A. Van Wyk, 44, of Prairie City died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at his home.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Prairie City United Methodist Church with a luncheon following. Burial will take place at 1:15 p.m. at the Sully Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Coburn Funeral Home of Prairie City from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 1, with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Scott Van Wyk Memorial Fund, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Allan and Marsha (Castorf) Van Wyk, Scott was born on June 14, 1966, in Sully. Scott graduated from Prairie City High School, class of 1984. On March 24, 2004, Scott was united in marriage with Wanda Rains in Prairie City. Scott was a mechanic and certified welding inspector at Star Equipment. When not at work, Scott was busy at his shop, welding, fabricating and helping friends with projects. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Wanda Van Wyk of Prairie City; son, Allan Scott Van Wyk of Searsboro; parents, Allan and Marsha Van Wyk of Searsboro; brother, Brad (Brooke) Van Wyk of Prairie City; grandmother, Colleen Castorf; and many other family members and close friends. Scott was preceded in death by his grandpa, Raymond Van Wyk; grandmother, Johanna Van Wyk; grandfather, Carroll Castorf; and two uncles, Marvin Van Wyk and Kevin Van Wyk.
