Josh Truitt

Joshua Lee Tipton Truitt, 21, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2002 as a result of injuries in a motor vehicle accident east of Gallatin, Missouri.

The son of Perry L. Truitt and Deborah Kay Tipton, he was born July 13, 1980 in Kirksville, Missouri.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Debbie and Donald Rubino of Milan; his father and stepmother, Perry and Debbie Truitt of Browning, Missouri; one sister, Kimberly Rubino of Milan; one stepsister, Larena Akeson of St. Mary's , Georgia; several aunts and uncles including: Bertha Deaton of Mingo, Iowa; Steve and Kathy Tipton of Milan; Joyce and Linny Hoerrmann of Green Castle, Missouri; Dave Deaton of Baxter, Iowa; Patience and Sam Herro of San Dea, Texas; Katherine McWhorter of New Cambria, Missouri; Oran and Peggy Truitt of Pollock, Missouri; Richard and Lori Truitt of Milan; Lanea Couts of Independence, Missouri; Mary Beth Dwiggins of Browning; Joe Truitt of Wisconsin; and Frank and Roger Burro of Dallas, Texas; one great-aunt, Vivian McIntire of Newton, Iowa; and several cousin.

He was preceded in death by one sister in infancy; paternal grandparents, Marjorie Meeks and Joseph H. Truitt; maternal grand and great-grandparents, Albert Earl and Jewell Tipton, Ora and Dollie Chapman, Ollie Weter and Cecil Tipton; and two aunts, Raylene Rogers and Judith Tipton.

Josh was a lifelong resident of Milan. He was employed as a boiler man at ConAgra in Milan the past 2 years. Josh served with Company A, 110th Engineers Battalion of the Missouri Army National Guard. He was a member of Milan American Legion Post 228 and the First Baptist Church in Milan. His hobbies included fishing and hunting.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Milan with Rev. Rolan Reitz officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan with Military Rites at graveside by the Missouri Army national Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

The family has suggested memorials be to the First Baptist Church in Milan. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, January 17, 2002
