Gene McCreary

Gene McCreary, 74, of Colfax died of an aneurysm Tuesday, January 29, at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mr. McCreary was born in Centerville and had lived there until moving to Colfax 15 years ago. He was the retired owner and operator of McCreary Sale Barn and Trucking Co., in Centerville and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Woodburn of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

His companion was Helen Gregory of Colfax.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. McLaren's Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines handled arrangements. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, February 7, 2002
