Marvin Dale Jellema, 53, of the Red Rock Lake area, a former Prairie City resident for 21 years, died Saturday, May 9, 1992 of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella. The Rev. Andy Kamphuis conducted the services. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Memorials to a fund for the preservation of eagles are being accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Kevin of Mission, Kansas, and John of Mitchellville; three daughters, Kimberly Jellema of Ankeny, Marlee Boddicker of Knoxville, and Robin Luciano of Knoxville; and five grandchildren.
Also surviving are a step-brother, Le Roy A. Van Zee of Pella; two step-sisters, Helen (Mrs. Marvin) Smith of Oskaloosa and Joyce (Mrs. Ray) Vos of Leighton; his mother and stepfather, Etta and William A. Van Zee of Pella; a sister, Arlene (Mrs. Marvin) Van Gorp of Pella; and two brothers, Richard of Knoxville and Lawrence of Chicago, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman, May 20, 1973.
Mr. Jellema, a printing pressman for 35 years, was employed at the Iowa Trade Bindery in Des Moines. He was a member of the IMDPA.
The son of Herman and Henrietta Netten Jellema, he was born June 18, 1938 in Towaco, New Jersey, and moved with his family to Pella in 1946. He attended Pella Christian schools and was graduated from Pella Christian High School in 1956.
He was married to Marilyn Visser June 20, 1956 in Otley.
