Lester, Eleanor B. – 1914-1992

Eleanor Beatrice Vaughan Lester, 78, a life-long Colfax resident, died Sunday, October 4, 1992 in rural Colfax.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8 at the Colfax United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax handled arrangements.
Memorials to Mercy Hospice or the Colfax United Methodist Church are being accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Richard; a daughter, Marianne (Mrs. Larry) Glasford of Colfax; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arthur Vaughan.
She was a member of Colfax United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Sand Hill Grange.
The daughter of Levi and Eleanor Buckroyd Vaughan, she was born May 5, 1914 in Colfax. She was a 1931 graduate of Colfax Community High School and a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls.
She taught in Colfax area rural schools and for three years in Prairie City prior to her 1940 marriage to Richard Lester in Des Moines.
