Vander Schel, Henrietta Klyn – 1909-1991

Henrietta Klyn Vander Schel, 82, of Pella, a native and former resident of Jasper County, died early Sunday, December 8, 1991 at Pella Community Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 11 at the Pella Third Reformed Church. Dr. Delmar d. Thiesse, assisted by the Rev. Henry W. Kolenbrander, both of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella handled arrangements.
Memorials to the Ladies Aid of the Pella Third Reformed Church are being accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Jerry, two sons, Robert L. of Kellogg and Melvin F. of St. Charles, Missouri; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Nellye (Mrs. Steven) Vos of Prairie City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Barbara Jean, in infancy in 1931, three sisters and a brother.
She was a member of the Pella Third Reformed Church and the church’s ladies Aid and choir.
She and her husband farmed west of Prairie City before moving to the Pella area in 1935. They operated the Vogelaar Hardware Store in Pella from 1959 to 1970 and were custodians at the Pella Third Reformed Church from 1970 to 1976.
The daughter of Everett and Fannie Vande Kamp Klyn, she was born September 6, 1909 in the Fifield community in Jasper County.
She was married to Jerry Vander Schel August 14, 1929 in Oskaloosa.
