Harry Wassenaar Jr., 85, a longtime Prairie City area resident and former Prairie City school board member, died Friday, June 26, 1992 at Clearview Manor.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the church, conducted services. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.
Survivors are a son, Gordon of Prairie City; a daughter, Joellen Yeager of Jesup; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Wassenaar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Florence Belle in 1965; and two sisters, Elsie Wassenaar and Louise Allen.
He was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
The son of Harry and Hallie Johnson Wassenaar, he was born October 20, 1906 at Monroe. He was a graduate of Prairie City High School.
He was married to Florence Belle Gittinger May 29, 1934 in Des Moines.
A retired farmer, he lived on a farm southwest of Prairie City from 1919 until his death.
