Wilma Louise Van Maanen Wyma, 67, of Pella, a former Prairie City area resident, died Wednesday, July 29, 1992 at the Pella Community Hospital of injuries suffered in a car accident Tuesday night east of Pella.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1 at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. The Rev. John R. Ritsema, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Pella. Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella handled arrangements.
Memorials to Mission Walk, International (aid to needy Mexican children) or to the Red Rock New Voice Club (in care of Leonard Vande Lune) are being accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Cornie; three sons: Clarence William of Sully, Roger L. of Pella, and Duane A. of Edwards, Colorado; three daughters: Helen (Mrs. Jim) Ter Louw, Connie (Mrs. Wes) Van Wyk, and Joyce (Mrs. Ed) Olson, all of Pella; 14 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Van Maaren, August 1, 1953, and her mother, Henriette Van Maaren, July 24, 1964.
Mrs. Wyma was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella, and participated in Coffee Break Ministry at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Pella. She was a former member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.
The only child of William and Henrietta Van Weelden Van Maaren, she was born July 17, 1925 in northeast Iowa. She was raised and educated in the Leighton area.
She was married to Cornelius Wyma in Little Rock, Arkansas September 7, 1942, where Mr. Wyma was stationed in the Army.
Following their marriage the couple moved to Sully, then to Pella, and later to Prairie City, where most of their children were raised and educated. They returned to Pella in 1964.
