Gerald G. Beals II, 29, of Boone died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, in Boone.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 1, at the Howard Street Christian Church of Colfax with burial following at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday, Oct. 31, at Coburn Funeral Home of Colfax.

The son of Gary and Lucretia (Richards) Beals, Gerald was born on June 30, 1981 in Des Moines. Gary was a graduate from Colfax-Mingo High School. While in school he participated as a member of the football team, track team, and swim team. Gary had a passion for hunting and rock climbing. There wasn't anything he didn't try to climb. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts, where he attained Eagle Scout status. Gary was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church of Colfax. He was employed at Hy-Vee Food Stores as a member of the meat department.
Those left to honor his memory are his parents, Gary and Lucretia Beals of Colfax; one sister, Heather Loshaw and her husband Duane of Newton; two nieces, one nephew, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. William Richards Sr. Gary was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
