Ruth Schlosser Williams

Ruth Schlosser Williams, 89, of Colfax, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa from a heart ailment. Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with Pastor Danny DuRocher officiating. Burial was at the Colfax Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Ruth Schlosser Williams was born August 24, 1911, the daughter of Edward and Jane (Owen) Hamer in Colfax, Iowa. Ruth graduated from Colfax High School in 1930 and attended Drake University taking nursing classes. She was united in marriage to George Schlosser in 1945, who died in 1950. She was united in marriage to John C. Williams in 1955, who died in 1975. A lifetime resident of Colfax, Ruth worked at many local business's including the Colfax Tribune for many years. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Colfax.

Ruth is survived by three sister-in-law, Marguerite Hamer of Colfax, Genora Williams of Des Moines, and Allene Schlosser also of Colfax; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sisters, Anna Baker and Enid Colby and three brothers, Albert Hamer, John Elwin Hamer and Ernest Hamer. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, June 21, 2001
