Eleanor Laurene Yoakum

Eleanor Laurene Zachary Yoakum died Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at home in Colfax, Iowa at the age of 61 years. Funeral services were held Friday, January 19, 2001 at the Howard Street Christian Church with the Rev. Paul Elliott, Pastor officiating. Burial of the cremains was Saturday, January 20, 2001 at the Colfax Cemetery.

The daughter of Raymond Fenton Zachary and Laura Eleanor Jones Zachary, she was born on July 28, 1939 in Colfax, Iowa. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1957.

She married Paul Eugene Yoakum on July 5, 1959 in Colfax, Iowa. They lived at High Amana for 7 years before coming back to Colfax n 1970. She was employed at the Monroe Table Company for 20 years as Traffic Manager before retiring of ill-health in 1999.

She served as PTA president for two terms as well as homeroom mother. She helped with the secretarial work for the Alumni Association for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Eugene Yoakum; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Sherry, Kevin and Brenda, Kelly and Lori; six grandchildren, Derek, Cory, Austin, Madison, Kristen and Zachary; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Deloris and Robert Shepley and Bill Pion; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Mary and Yea (?)unter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Pion. She was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, January 25, 2001
