Marion J. Boat, 79, of Pella died Sunday, August 9, 1992 in the Hospice Room at Pella Community Hospital.Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 12 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church in Pella. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra officiated. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Mr. Boat is survived by his wife, Marie, their two sons and daughter-in-laws, Leon and Carla Boat, Gwynn and Anna Boat; five grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Leota and Hessel Van Zante of Otley, Floyd and Avis Boat of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Loretta and Clarence Van Zee of Pella; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn (Ernest) Boat and brother-in-law, Dick P. Uitermarkt, both of Pella.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Mr. Boat was born March 1, 1913 in Prairie City, Iowa and grew up in the Otley-Pella area.
He was married to Marie Louise Van Vark on October 28, 1943.
After years of farming the family moved into Pella in 1963 where Mr. Boat worked for D & D Pump, Inc. He later was employed with Vermeer Manufacturing Company and at Central College in grounds maintenance.
Mr. Boat was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella.
