Edrys Churchill, age 95 of Monroe, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Monroe. Memorial services for Mrs. Churchill will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com .

The daughter of Hans and Celia (Hill) Severtson, Edrys Margaret Leanore Severtson was born on July 7, 1915 in Jasper, Minnesota. Edrys graduated from San Diego High School in San Diego, California. She married Justin Churchill Dec. 27, 1936. They lived their life traveling with the navy until they retired in Creston, Iowa 1958. They spent the next several years wintering in Yuma, Arizona. They had 51 years together before his death. She then divided her time between Yuma and her three children and grandchildren until, her health deteriorated. At the time of her death, she was living in Monroe, Iowa with her daughter and husband. She was a passionate person who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-children but her other loves were playing 18 holes of golf, a day at bingo and locating the perfect Keno machine.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Jacque Phillips and her husband David of Monroe; Judy Kemp and her husband Robert of Williston, North Dakota; and Justin “Skip” Churchill and his wife Sandy of Charlotte, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild arriving in November, one sister-in-law, Anne Textor of Coon Rapids, Iowa, many nieces and nephews.

Edrys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a stillborn son.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Pella.
