JACKSON, KLUCHER, NEWMAN

Robert Jackson, formerly of Newton, passed away on Sept. 28, 2010. Born and raised in Newton, Bob had two brothers, the late Harold (Tiny) Jackson and C. Curtis Jackson. Bob became a Marine immediately after high school and served in the Pacific theater in World War II. Upon returning, he attended Grinnell College and later completed a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin. He married Gweneth Newman in 1947. Bob worked for the Teamster’s Union in West Virginia and was later a personnel manager for the U.S. Ceramic Tile Company in East Sparta, Ohio. In 1974, he became a mediator with the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service in Kalamazoo, Mich., where he resided until 2006, when he and Mrs. Jackson moved to Pittsburgh to be near their daughter and grandchildren.
Bob and Gwen had two daughters, the late Peggy Jackson of Chicago and Nancy (Mrs. Harry) Klucher of Pittsburgh. He is survived by Gweneth, Nancy; his two grandchildren, Victoria and Harrison Klucher; and his brother, C. Curtis Jackson.
A graveside service will take place at the Newton Union Cemetery on Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Berea College, Berea, KY 40404.
