William D. “Don” Rogers, 75, of Kellogg died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Don, the son of Vess Lee and Emma (Hanson) Rogers, was born August 8, 1935, in Oakalona, Mississippi. He had been a farmer for over 54 years, and lived and farmed in Poweshiek County for many of those years. Don enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, farming, gardening, and being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed doing mechanic work.
Survivors include his 4 sons: Will D. (Patty) Rogers of Newton, Kenny (Lori) Rogers of Fruitland, IA, Jim D. (Jamie) Rogers of Nebraska, and Rick Rogers of Grinnell; 2 daughters: Martha (John) Gabel of Oskaloosa and Debbie (Ronnie) Winchell; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Emma Jean Rogers of Vernon, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or in Don's name may be left at the funeral home.
