Breckenridge, Mildred Carrie – 1920-2010

Mildred Carrie Breckenridge, 90, of Monroe died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct . 25, at the Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Mildred Breckenridge Memorial Fund, and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of George Washington and Laura Carrie (Biehl) Nolin, Mildred was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in Fairview Township. She attended Monroe Schools. On Oct. 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Alfred Breckenridge in Garden City, Mo. Mildred was a fabulous caretaker for her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Mildred loved time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Monroe.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, David (Patricia) Breckenridge of Des Moines, Roger (Dianne) Breckenridge of Newton, Steven (Joyce) Breckenridge of Newton, Sandra (Dan) Meeker of Austin, Texas, and Al (Donita) Breckenridge of Monroe; 27 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one half-sister, Louise Lindsey of Newton. Preceding Mildred in death were her parents and husband.
