Harlan L. Millang, 89, of Sully died Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Comfort House in Pella.
Family visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in rural Sully. Following the visitation, there will be a Masonic service at the church. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church

Harlan was born on October 24, 1920 in Hamilton County. He grew up in the Rolland-Story area. Harlan served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. On January 25, 1946, Harlan was united in marriage with Janet Williams in Nevada. In 1961, they moved to Sully. Harlan managed several Dairy Businesses, retiring from Mid-America Dairy in Newton in 1984. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Story City, the Montezuma Shriners and the Shrine-Kaaba of Davenport, the Montezuma American Legion, and St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Those left to honor Harlan’s memory are his wife, Janet Millang of Sully; 2 daughters, Marlene Millang of Boxholm and Karlene Millang of Boone; his 2 sons, Dennis (Donna) Millang of Huxley and Gary Millang of Des Moines; 8 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Kay (Robert) Dickson of Eden Prairie, MN and Ihlo Borts of California; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josie (Orthun) Millang; infant daughter, Sandra Millang; infant grandson, Brad Millang; and his 3 brothers, Herb, John Jr., and Roger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or the Pella Comfort House may be left at the church. (Interment at Story City Municipal Cemetery in Story City.)
