Services Held Tuesday for Venus G. Williams

Mrs. Mike (Venus G.) Williams, 91, of Colfax, a longtime resident of Jasper County, died Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. John McKinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira.

Casket bearers were Roscoe Maggard, Allen Seales, Gary Trisler, David Hohrmann, Michael McLain and Kevin Trisler.

Surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.

The daughter of William and Susie Ward Maggard, she was born May 4, 1894 in Ira.

She was married June 24, 1916 in Des Moines. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, 1985
