Curry, Charles Anderson – 1870-1933

Charles Anderson Curry, son of George and Ruth Curry, was born March 3, 1870, and died March 20, 1933, at the age of 62 years and 17 days, at the old Curry home in Mound Prairie township, where he had lived practically all his life.
As a neighbor and a fellow citizen he led an active life. In public life he was a faithful worker in all political issues that seemed to be for the betterment of the community. He was assessor of Mound Prairie township for 10 years until ill health forced him to decline the office.
In social life he was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebecca Lodge of Colfax. He was an active member of the Mound Prairie Grange, having served at one time as Worthy Master and also as secretary. In earlier life he was a member of the K. of P. Lodge in Prairie City.
He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Susie Meckley of Colfax, Mrs. Bertha Britton of Des Moines, Mrs. Max Kinart of
Newton, Mrs. Pearl Tabor of Colfax and Mrs. Sadie Durham of Ann Arbor, Mich., four brothers, Will Curry of Melbourne, Clarence Curry of Prairie City, Frank Curry of Perth, N.D., and Earl Curry of Newt6on, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, one sister, and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at the Mound Prairie Grange hall, at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, March 22, with Rev. Ross Mills of the Wittemberg church officiating. The I.O.O.F. Lodge also held services.
Music was presented by a male quartet from Prairie City. Pallbearers were Jay Coffman, John Leonard Clymer, William Clymer, Wess Giles, Paul Magg and Clarence Faidley. Interment was made in Rorabaugh cemetery.
