Services held for Maytag Retiree G. Rex Gibson

G. Rex Gibson, of Newton, a Maytag retiree, died Friday at his home. he was 76. Services were held Monday in Newton and burial was in the Union Cemetery.

First working for the company in 1923 in the paint and assembly department, Gibson's continuous service began in June 1925. In 1936 he transferred to receiving and in 1937 was named yard supervisor. In 1946 he was named general supervisor and in 1955 was promoted to superintendent of receiving and stores. He remained in that position until retiring in March 1969.

Survivors include his widow, Alice; two son: the Rev. George Gibson of Sheldon and Jack, Hamburg, and a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Marilyn) Gaylor, Hackessin, Del. ~ The Maytag Bulletin 1982
