--Lou Smith, 70, former resident of this community, died at his home in Valley Junction Sunday morning at 1:00 o'clock, following an illness of three years' duration. Funeral services were held there Tuesday afternoon and the remains were brought to Wild Cat cemetery southesast of Newton and buried on the family lot. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Jane Smith, four daughters, and two sons. Mr. Smith is a brother-in-law of Richard Strovers, Garrett Strovers and Mrs. A.W. Eastridge of this place and Cass Strovers of Killduff.
