Penny Lee Borts

Penny Lee Borts, age 53, died Saturday, December 31, 1994, at her home in Colfax. She was born April 5, 1941 at Colfax, the daughter of John Ivan and Flossie Mae Newton Kintz.

On December 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to Dave Borts Jr. at Des Moines.

A lifelong Colfax resident Mrs. Borts is survived by her husband, Dave and five children, Brenda Lee Borts, Dave Elmer Borts III, John Ivan Borts and wife, Carmen, Lonnie Ray Borts and fiance, Cheryl Bond, and Robin Louise Borts, all of Colfax, three grandchildren, Jordan, Colton and Camden Borts; two brothers, Raymond and Ernie Kintz, both of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother Duane Kintz and three sisters; Dorothy Gallagher, Clarissa Cannon and Evelyn Borts.

Services for Penny were held Wednesday, January 4, 1995 at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, with burial in Greencastle Cemetery, Mingo, Iowa.

Officiating was Rev. Thomas Carpe, Pastor, hymns were, "Beyond the Sunset", "Rock of Ages", and "Going Down The Valley", organist, was Eleanor Howell, and soloist was Rosie House.

Special recorded music of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "Daddy Sang Base" by the Borts Family. Casket Bearers were: Mike Williams, Pat Crosby, Larry Hunt, James Brant, Bob Barnard and Glen Hill.

Honorary Bearers were: Raymond Dale Kintz, James E. Smith, Larry LaWayne Borts Jr., David Wayne Kintz, Dion Wayne Kintz, Larry LaWayne Borts Sr., Mike Wayne Kintz, Mike DeWayne Kintz and Tom Borts. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax Thursday, January 5, 1995
