Resident's Mother Died

Daisy Fern Kolosiek, 91, of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, Feb. 15, in St. Luke's Hospital. services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Morgan Funeral Home, and burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the North English Cemetery in North English.
Survivors include two daughters, Melba Brawner Winegar of Cedar Rapids and Mary Viter of Mount Vernon; two sons, Arnold of Long Beach, Calif; and W. D. "Jeff" of Colfax; and a brother, Glenn Gladwin of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one step-great-granddaughter and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband a son, Loren; and a grandson, Tracy Brawner.

She was born July 13, 1900 in North English, and married Oland W. Brawner Aug. 23, 1916, in Lancaster, Mo. She moved to Mount Vernon from Cedar Rapids in 1943. She was a seamstress for 27 years for Viter Upholstery. She babysat over 140 children. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses-McCloud Springs Kingdom hall of Cedar Rapids. She was an artist, studying art at Cornell College and studied painting under Grant Wood.
