MONROE — Phyllis McCrea, 78, of Monroe died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with burial following at Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Louis and Inez (Trevillyan) Jolly, Phyllis was born on March 4, 1932, in Stuart, Iowa. On April 26, 1963, she was united in marriage to Norman McCrea. Phyllis loved to read, watch birds and garden.
Those left to honor her memory, her husband of 47 years, Norman of Monroe; her children, Robert (Helen) Oxberger of Burke, Virginia, Gayle (Rick) Ryan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joel (Julie) McCrea of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Paul (Dawn) McCrea of Dalzell, South Carolina, and Craig McCrea Lu Verne, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Paul, Jay, Jill, Gregory, Lindsey, Megan and Nathan; five great grandchildren, Isaac, Nora, Emrick, Nolan,and Lay- Lay and one on the way. Also surviving is a brother James Jolly of Ankeny, Iowa. Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents and a grandson, Jason.
Memorials may be directed to the Newton Public Library.
