Thelma Steinberger passed away on Aug. 25, 2010, at the age of 99 in Mesa, Ariz.
She is survived by daughters Billie Burham and Jo Ann Hesson; son-in-law Paul Hesson; grandchildren Page Phillips, Nathan Gorham, Jennifer Marcinkiewitz and Mathew Hesson-McInnis; four nephews; and two nieces. Thelma was quite proud of having four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Willis R. Steinberger, and son-in-law Donald Burham.
Thelma was a long-time resident of Colfax and Newton and had been living in Mesa for the last 28 years. Thelma and Willis enjoyed square dancing in Iowa, Colorado and Arizona. Thelma’s hobby and passion was china painting and gifting her family and friends with her artwork. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and reading. Thelma was a long-time member of the Newton Congregational Church. Thelma will be interred in the Knoxville cemetery, details at a later date. She was cherished by all of her family.

Thelma Steinberger, 99, of Mesa, Ariz., died on Aug. 25, 2010.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. The Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is assisting with the services.
