Death of Arthur Bielefeldt

Funeral services for Arthur Bielefeldt, son in law of Ethel Weeks of Baxter, were held Tuesday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Valley View Baptist church in Cedar Falls, Ia. he died May 6 at Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls, at the age of 72 years. The Rev. Frank L. Harris officiated. Burial was in Roland Cemetery, Roland, Iowa.

Arthur Jay Bielefeldt was born June 1, 1905 at Dedham, Ia., son of Sanford and Charity Bielefeldt. As a boy he lived in Northwood and Roland, Iowa.

He graduated from Roland High School and Attended Iowa State College (Now University of Northern Iowa) from which he graduated in 1934. He received his Masters Degree at Colorado State College, Ft. Collins, Colorado in 1949. He taught school in Nevada, Iowa, Dunkerton and Washington, Iowa. From 1943 to 1959 he was Superintendent at Orange Township Consolidated School, Waterloo. His last position was at Colo, from where he retired in 1967 after 38 years of service.

A dedicated professional, Arthur was a life member of the National Education Association, Iowa State Education Ass., Phi Delta Kappa and an Honorary member of the Colo Teachers Assn. He was a member of the Valley View Baptist Church and he Cedar Valley Men's Garden Club.

On June 2, 1931 he and Marcyea Weeks of Baxter were united in marriage. Three children were born to this union.

He is survived by his wife, Marcyea, one son, William W. Bielefeldt, Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Irvin (Jo Ann) Wanger, Norman, Okla; and jean Lea Nation, Columbia, Md.; one sister, Julia Bielefeldt, Des Moines; one brother, Cecil Bielefeldt, Rolfe; and six grandchildren.
