Death of Father

John M. Thelen 89, was born November 21, 1888 in LeMars, Iowa. He entered into rest Tuesday May 9, at the Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. Burial was in Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove.

Mr. Thelen had been a barber in the Linn Grove community for 35 years before moving to Des Moines where he served as a substitute barber for 15 years.

The past 10 years he and resided in Prairie City.

He is survived by one daughter Mrs. Richard (Phyllis) Peterson of Colfax; two grandsons, Richard of Fargo, N.D. and Dan D. of Houston, Texas; two great grandsons John and Erich and two sisters.

Preceding him in death were his wife in 1969 and one son who was killed in action during W W. II. ~ The Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa, Thursday, May 18, 1978
