Resident's Sister Dies

Otha Hulse has received word of the death of his sister, Leota Hulse Roberts in Los Angeles on Friday, April 28.

She had been ailing for several months but was able to enjoy a visit from the Hulses in March, while she was still in her own home but limited to her activities.

She is also survived by her daughter, Merry Beth, and several grandchildren.

Leota lived in the Mingo area in her girlhood and was pianist at the Mingo Methodist Church for many years.

At a later time she wrote many declamatory readings, which were in demand and are still used currently, such as the series "Ma's Monday Morning," "Ma at the Races," " Ma at the Basket Ball Game" and "White Lilacs" and "Spot, The Newsboy's Dog." ~ The Jasper County tribune, May 4, 1978
