Signs, LeRoy – 1869-1933

Baxter, March 30 – Special to the Daily News – LeRoy Signs, youngest son of James and Sarah Kintz Signs, was born in a log cabin in Jasper county, Iowa, Aug. 4, 1869, and died March 13, 1933, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 9 days. His death followed an illness of several months.
His early life was spent on a farm in the county, where he received his education and training in agricultural pursuits.
On March 15, 1893, he was united in marriage to Clara Wiley and to this union four children were born, namely, Mrs. Carol Euch of Ira, Gladys, who died in infancy, Floyd of Mingo and Mrs. Mildred Duncan of Colfax.
The first 33 years of their married life was spent on a farm in Clear Creek township, the couple moving to the present farm home 18 years ago.
Mr. Signs was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Colfax and during his life was active in contributing to the need and welfare of his community.
Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by two brothers, Charles and John of Collins and five granddaughters, Lucille Euch, Doris Signs, and Geraldine, Darlene and Helen Lee Duncan. Two grandsons, Lowell Euch, who died in infancy and Everett Signs, who died a few weeks ago, preceded him in death.
