Luther Neth, 71, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at his home in Maquoketa.

A celebration of Luther's life will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, November 11, 2017, from the Maquoketa Island Church (Faith Community Church) in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Luther L. Neth was born on August 31, 1946 in Pingelap Atoll, Micronesia to Lucas and Enna (Ioanis) Osaias. His adopted parents were Neth and Marcella. He married Simako Mark. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2015.

Luther had worked for many years as a janitor at the PNI Hospital in Kolonia, Pohnpei, Micronesia. He enjoyed playing bingo and cards, and going fishing.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Marcelyn (Jason Kenebel) Neth of Maquoketa, IA, Marvin Neth of Maquoketa, IA, and Marleen Neth of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Ludick (Selse) Osaias of Pohnpei, Luke Osaias of Missouri, Luden Osaias of Guam, and Elene Osaias of Guam. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 children, John I, John II, and Kuairlynn Neth, and his wife Simako.
