Vera Ferguson, 88, of Iowa Falls, Iowa and formerly of Florida, passed away Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Cause: complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Funeral services for Vera Ferguson will be 2:30 Thursday at the Linn's funeral Home Chapel, Iowa Falls, with the Reverend Randy Crane of the West Freisland Presbyterian Church, Ackley, Iowa, officiating. Burial will follow at the Northlawn Memory Gardens, Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Vera Eldise Conger was born September 28, 1913, at Keeseville, New York, the daughter of Harlon and Lois [ Finney ] Conger. She attended and graduated from the Draper High School, Draper, New York with the class of 1932. She attended and graduated from the State University of New York, Cobleskill, New York receiving her Bachelor degree in 1946 in Home Economics.
On April 20, 1935 she was united in marriage to Ernest Dykeman at Schenectady, New York. To this union two children were born: Norman and Marlea. They were later divorced. On March 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Oscar Ferguson at Giffords, New York.
She had been a pastry and Salad chef for several Dormitories with the New York State University. After retiring to Florida she was active with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, was a volunteer for the Women of the Moose at Summerfield, Florida, and a member of the Alpha Sigma Delta Sorority.
Vera Ferguson is survived by her daughter: Marlea Wiese of Iowa Falls, Iowa; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister: Dorothy Peck of Rexford, New York; and two brothers: Walter Conger of Randleman, North Carolina, and Harlon Conger of Syracuse, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Harlon and Lois Conger; her husband: Oscar Ferguson; an infant son: Norman C. Dykeman; one brother: Robert Conger; three sister-in-laws: Elizabeth Conger, Irene Conger, Evelyn Conger; one brother-in-law: Alan Peck, Sr., and one nephew: Robert Conger, Jr.
