HAMPTON-Frieda Wiegman, 93, of Hampton died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Services were held Friday, May 31, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Greene with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Walker officiated.

Frieda was born Jan. 12, 1909, in rural Greene to Henry and Louise Schrage Voigts and was raised by her stepmother, Minnie Schrage. She attended rural Butler County schools. On Feb. 16, 1930, she married Frank Wiegman at Greene. She cooked in the Greene schools for 25 years and was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers, cooking and crocheting.

She is survived two daughters, Gloria Koth and husband Curt of Sibley and Karolyn Brower and husband Gary of Geneva; three sisters, Mabel Wilkin of Sacramento, Calif., Darlene McWhirter of Traer and Dinna Burrier of Waverly; a sister-in-law, Norma Voigts of Greene; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Clarence and Marvin Voigts; and two sisters, Leona Voigts and Lilly Bauman.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton was in charge of arrangements.
