BRAINERD, Minn.-Edwin L. Groenhoff, 77, of Brainerd died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Iowa Falls with interment in the Alden Cemetery.

Edwin was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Alden to Fred and Edith Groenhoff. He pastored several churches in his long ministerial career, including the early years at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church. He was married for 53 years to his wife, Viola, who preceded him in death. He earned an education degree at the University of Colorado and taught at Macalester and Bethel colleges and Mankato State University. Edwin published eight Christian books and was known for his oil paintings. In 1971 he became Secretary of Publications for the national Evangelical Free Church Conference, a position he held until his retirement in 1984.

He and his wife made their retirement home in Crosslake, Minn., and spent the winters in Sun City, Ariz. He is survived by an aunt, Vera Groenhoff, of Iowa Falls.
