CASCADE-Raymond "Rabbit" Menster, 84, of Cascade, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at the Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade. Services will be held Thursday, May 8 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, with burial in the Cascade Cemetery. Rev. Daniel Krapfl will officiate.
Raymond was born Oct. 5, 1917, north of Cascade to Henry and Margaret Dahlem Menster. On June 21, 1944, he married Florence Less. He served in World War II for three and a half years, serving in Italy with the 34th Red Bull Division and the European-African Theater. Raymond farmed from 1945 until retiring in 1972. He was a farmer dealer for Farmers Hybred hogs for 40 years. His hobbies were fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by a son, Bill and his wife, Maureen, of Sigourney; four daughters, Becky Duvel and husband, Virg, of Toddville, Donna Healy and husband, Stephen, of North Liberty, Lou Simon and husband, Irwin, of Cascade and Joanie Barnard and husband, Denny, of Eldora; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Peiffer of Cascade, Betty McVoy of Monticello, and Carlyn Smith and husband, Toddy, of Manteca, Calif.; and two brothers, Charles Menster of Paradise, Calif., and John Menster of Cascade. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Floyd.
